Take to the Skies

The last time we went to the Alliance Air Show was when we were dating! With E so into planes of late, we’d thought it’d be just the thing for him. The static displays were impressive and E thought it pretty darn coolio to explore inside many of them. As usual, Daddy was the walking encyclopedia (personal tour guide?) and knew the names of all the flying vehicles AND the history behind them. :)

Of course the highlight of the afternoon were the Blue Angels! And second time around, it was still a thunderously magnificent performance!!! We brought hearing protection for E cuz yes, parts of it were deafening.

During the show, E saw some kids playing with toy Blue Angel planes so midway he whispered, “Toy airplane, Daddy” and then every minute or so thereafter. :D Since it was a special outing, we got him one, reminding him again we don’t always buy everything we see or want. And he’s actually been very good about that — he will play and look at something at the store but when we tell him it’s time to go and we’re not buying it, he will relent. Sometimes later than sooner but eventually… He was delighted with his Blue Angel, of course. (For a few days? ;-P)

And the carnival came to town — it was like a mini state fair complete with midway, rides, games and more! We went the first night to check it out and E immediately wanted to ride the flying helicopters. We got our tickets only to get stopped by the operator saying he wasn’t tall enough. :( He barely missed it by maybe 1 inch or less? He was absolutely crushed. In tears, it was simply “I want to go home.” ;*( We tried again the last night and this time, with taller shoes. BINGO! We hit the jackpot. :)

Mommy started feeling a little queasy after the helicopter ride but E was on cloud nine. :) We squeezed in a few other rides with no height Nazi intrusion! ;P The bumper cars were another hit — E rode twice, once each with Mommy and Daddy.
