Ong-goings

Okie, OK

Daddy had his regionals tourney in Tulsa, Oklahoma so Mommy and Son tagged along for the road trip.

The 3.5 hour drive was fairly uneventful — Elias slept most of the way.

We were up early the next day. Daddy was out the door by 7:30 AM and we checked out the Tulsa Farmers Market before the heat set in.

LE
Pretty good home-brewed kombucha but E found it “sour”! ;-)

LE
Then it was time to escape to the cool indoors at the Philbrook Museum. It happened to be their free admission Saturday so there was already a line before they opened.

There were lots of activities, tours and events going on that day.

LE
E got a little artist case. :) He wasn’t crazy about Mommy wanting to wander through the art halls first.

LE
… But instantly lit up when he saw all the kid stuff!

LE

Silk worm art!

LE

LE
Mommy’s friend, Kristin, drove from OKC to see us! We got too busy talking and stopped taking pictures of what we did — numerous stations and lots of little art projects.

Then we ventured outside to admire the magnificent grounds. It was almost like we were suddenly transported to a European garden or something.

“Hang tightly to your pencil, Elias”. And then, of course, you know what happens next… Mommy couldn’t reach it and was about to go call a museum attendant but thankfully a young boy fetched it out for us.

We lunched with Kristin at this zen cafe called Pure Food and Juice. It was in the same warehouse where yoga classes were going on. (Thus, the yogis in the background!). We talked to the instructors a bit afterwards and found out they were from Dallas and holding a traveling acro yoga class. Interesting.

LE
Yes, he is a fan of knives.

LE
That’s a dragon fruit smoothie with an edible flower and it totally rocked our world! Hehe.

We had leftovers for dinner and then went out to town for desserts & shopping!

LE

Heavenly truffles were found at Glacier Confection.

LE

LE

Browsed a few local boutiques…

LE

Mommy and son froyo date while Daddy went off to a sports pub with his team.

Daddy had Day 2 of play and the main attraction planned for E was the Tulsa Children’s Museum Discovery Lab. Unfortunately, they didn’t open until 11:30 so we hit up a local coffee/tea shop.

LE

LE
E’s robot dinosaur joined us for tea time. :) Their matcha latte was not bad!

We walked around the building for a bit to kill time until a security guard stopped us. Did we look suspicious or something? In the end, we had a nice convo with the gentleman and soon enough, it was time to head to the museum.

LE
We were one of the first ones in. E was pretty stoked to find dinosaurs in a ball pit. ;p

After just visiting a taping exhibit in LA, what do you know, there was a tape tunnel and 30ft slide made entirely of packing tape!

Then he found these buckets and started make-believing he was a transformer.

LE

LE
Took a break from transforming to play human foosball!

More dinosaurs — on a mobile.

We were supposed to hang out at the museum until 1pm when Daddy was scheduled to be finished with his last game. Well, the team ended up having to plan another game to fight for a place at nationals so we hung out for another 2-3 hours! E may have done the tape slide a gajillion times. (Mommy closed her eyes for a few on the side. Hehe.) Daddy texted when he was done that they won!!! Championships in Colorado, here we come. :) E was out in like a millisecond after getting in the car.

Picked up Daddy from the fields for the drive home… We stopped at a fruit stand along the way.

LE
E was still kinda groggy. :)

Have to say TX > OK. Hehe.
