A Different Summer
School ended, places have been re-opening but as cases are still rising, we are taking it day by day… It’s weird not having any trips or in-person camps planned. Instead, we’ve been doing little outings here and there — micro stay-cays?
He was so excited to meet up with a good friend. Their family has also been practicing strict quarantine protocol so we decided to meet outdoors for a bike ride by the coast.
They could have spent hours in this tree — lots of catching up to do! Though they have been keeping in touch weekly via FaceTime and the occasional snail mail.
These views helps us forget the situation for just a while…
Neighbors slowly coming out from “hibernation” for some socially distant chat and play…
Embarked on an urban, historical three bridges hike for Father’s Day.
A peaceful meditation garden/center where we were allowed to roam the grounds.
Speak [loudly] and carry a big stick in E’s case. :)
Opted for a rare takeout on Dad’s day — the boys were quite excited about mango sticky rice for dessert.
To a farm for some summer berry pickin’.
Another long lost buddy… They have not been out as well.
Daddy became a blueberry snob through the ordeal — they have to be a certain size, plumpness, color, etc. :D
Buckets full. (Though they really picked very little and just circled ’round the fields while the parents were on the hunt for the best fruit, haha).
Someone got a little hot. ;-)
We decided to head to a park around the corner for the boys to run around some more and gasp, this playground was open — this was outside of SD county so we guessed had different rules. First time at a public playground in months! It was seriously like a million Christmas days for them.
Of course prying them away was not an easy feat. And then came a thorough sanitization before heading home…
