A Chip, No Turkey, An Eagle

See if you get the title after going through this post. :)

LE
These boys were pretty excited about stopping by Butt Cheek Rock on the trail up to Potato Chip Rock. (Potty humor going strong at this age… does it lessen? :|)

LE
We opted for the short route via the fire road, which was still quite some elevation.

LE
Plenty of stops and silly rough housing.

LE

LE

LE
Once we got up to the top, E was the only one willing to get on the chip. :P That in itself was a feat as we had to scramble rocks and scooch carefully to the edge.

LE

LE
Mama convinced him to stand… if only for a sec.

LE
Then H decided he wanted to give it a go. Almost chickened out but he braved through!

LE

LE
Daddy and Uncle Scott have become good buddies with lots of similar interests and topics of discussion.

LE
H sat up. :) But didn’t dare to look down.

Another beautiful hike in the books topped off with a luscious sunset.

LE
On Thanksgiving Day, we drove out to Palomar Mountain. Good to see some tall trees! Where is Mr. E?

LE

LE

LE
The amber glow that will forever hold our hearts captive.

LE

LE

LE

LE
It was mighty peaceful up there with hardly a soul. Perfect for some contemplation, meditation, reflection and gratitude despite all that’s going on in the world…

LE
After sunset, we drove up even higher close to the observatory and did some star gazing. It was freeeezing but being reminded again how small we are in this vast universe is always grounding. We had a simple meal at home afterwards and the turkey bird did not make an appearance this year. :) Actually, he’s been missing for a few years already? :D

LE
Black Friday was #optoutside day!

LE
E’s longest hike ever w/ trusty hiking partner, J.

LE
To the eagle! Totally worth it…

LE
Snack break and feeling accomplished.

LE
Playing in the crevices.

Daddy was happy to be hiking on the PCT. We’ll be back to do more on these trails. :)

Sundown

LE

LE

With daylight savings, it’s been the ideal time of year to catch our favorite Cali sunsets.

LE
Love that these two are growing up to appreciate the natural things in life.

LE

LE
Whale searching… Didn’t spot any this time around.

LE

LE
Daddy/Son silhouettes.

LE
One of our beloved pod fams through this dark tunnel the past few months. Truly cherish them as they’ve become like our family here.

LE
Do ya know how blessed you are to grow up in this midst of this beauty? :)

LE

LE
Leaving their signatures in the sand.

LE
Zen moments…

LE
Inhale, exhale. It’s going to be okay.

LE
Recycled an old costume for his Zoom Halloween “parade”. Still fits!

LE
Last minute change of plans after we were greeted with pouring rain when we reached a trailhead. We need the rain but that day of all days?!

LE
Turned out to be a nice day in a park we’ve only explored once…

LE

LE
Short(er) hike to amazing views.

LE
Always mesmerized by that last sliver slipping into the horizon…

LE
We weren’t too far from Tacos El Gordo so we swung by as the last time we were here, the lines were insane.

LE
Authentic and sorta lived up to the hype?

LE
E has been taking tennis lessons for a few months. Ranked as a top activity for social distancing, lol.

LE
Out on Coronado Island for fall family shoot…

LE
This’ll likely be his sole photo with Santa this year. :)

LE
Takeout from various restos on the pier.

LE

LE

LE

LE

LE
Some of our own skyline shots of this city we adore… ;)

Sourhead

LE
Like life, we sometimes have to take the sour…

LE
Along with the sweet.

LE
First time at a mall since the pandemic shutdown… There were limited patrons allowed at a time in every store. Then we grabbed to-go at DTF SD — a bit underwhelming but maybe it just wasn’t the usual DTF in Asia experience.

LE
Trading (a la Pokemon cards) floor is open.

LE
Mommy and son hike when the dads were both injured.

LE
Trolls in the trunk. :)

LE
And then we saw this unfurl from our windows… huge wildfire east of us.

LE
Oh 2020, how many blows can you throw at us?

LE
The fires raged for days and the air quality was pretty bad…

LE
Rescue copters…

LE
Turned the moon reddish.

LE
Footprints in the sand… He is still carrying us all through this, right?

LE

LE

LE

LE

LE
Our non-Asian friends reminded us it was Mid-Autumn Festival. :P Time somehow has almost become irrelevant.

LE
Haven’t been here since we were tourists! Pinch us again that we’re residents now.

LE
Children of the corn. :D

LE

LE
Fun little outing at a quaint pumpkin patch.

LE

LE
They were more into the bison than the pumpkins…

LE

LE
And rock climbing.

LE
And role playing.

LE
At least they wandered through the patch?

LE
Oh and sat on the pumpkins, haha!

LE

LE

LE
Check out the driver.

LE
And we survive through to another season…
