Ong-goings

Verano

… ‘cuz everyone here speaks Spanish and yes, even more than in TX. :)

LE
That’s a living blue lizard, wearing a diamond necklace. :-P Randomly went into a nearby army/surplus store while running errands and this is one of the employee’s. He gives him a bath everyday and moisturizes his skin with lotion. E is now asking for one for his next b-day. :))

LE
Some “axe-throwing” at church on Father’s Day.

LE
Fleet Science Center w/ John.

LE
Hey, can’t forget we can play outside in the summer here!

LE

LE

LE
Westfield UTC’s got a new (since we went last) play structure.

LE
The Nat w/ the Liu kiddos and fellow schoolmates. Congrats on their new sib, Ezra.

LE

LE

LE
They played the “Name the animal’s poop” game a few times. :D

LE
For some reason we get all sentimental whenever we pass by this fountain… We’ve stared at it feeling sad when we had to leave SD while on vacay, not really ever thinking we can now come here all the time! And we do.

LE
Had a bit of time so they wanted to head to the Fleet, too. :) Their new Pause|Play (No Adulting Allowed!) exhibit is plenty fun! You’re supposed to shoot these hoops with distortion glasses which makes for a new challenge.

LE
Spinning top chairs.

LE
Play catch on a merry-go-round? Dizzzzzzying! Mommy could only take one round. :P

LE
Hula always takes ya back to childhood!

LE
Swimming in a pool o’ balls.

LE
This hall just always screams out… SPRINT!

LE
We went to Mass Creativity Day @ the New Children’s Museum. We hadn’t actually ever been to this museum despite living in downtown last summer. MASS crowded, it was. But we enjoyed checking out the place.

LE

LE
Great design and colors throughout.

LE

LE

LE
The Sketch Aquarium is such an engaging, immersive digital experience! You design/draw a sea creature, scan it and then you are able to interact with it (along w/ other people’s creatures) on an underwater wall projection. This was a hit for all 3 of us!

LE

LE

LE
Summer screams… you know what! Got tix to SD’s first Scoop ice cream festival. OMG, the LINES!

LE
Worth it?

LE
Auntie Shirley’s fam was in town for a visit. School was still in session for us but it was great to see the girls over the weekend. Kiddos got just a tad wet in the splash pad @ Waterfront Park. Just a tad. ;-)

LE

LE

LE

LE
Warming up before the water. :)

LE

LE
They stripped off their shirts and wore just jackets afterwards, haha.

LE

LE
A new Everbowl location was just around the corner in Little Italy so we couldn’t resist.

LE
Met up w/ the Tan’s again on Sunday after church in Legoland. The water park was open! Our first time there as it was always closed when we went.

LE
Darn, Daddy, the photog, didn’t get to be in the pic.

LE
But he got in this one — all smiles after attempting a bite out of the Hot Dog Lego-man. :D

LE
Last soccer session for the season…. These two have become inseparable (and um, partners in crime?) this past year!

LE

LE
Field Day!

LE

LE
We missed the memo AGAIN on another award — for efficiency. And he and Daddy happened to be late that day so we also didn’t make the group photo. Cheesy Photoshopp’d image to remember. E was a bit bummed to not be there live, though, as John also got the same award.

LE
Taco compadre.

LE
Uncle Jonathan, Daddy’s friend from way back, also came for a visit during his annual U.S. trip. Was it really 4 years ago since your last? The boys did catch him in Singapore, though.

LE

LE

LE

LE

LE

LE

LE
While Daddy and Uncle admired the coast, Mommy and E had a little mini-adventure. Hehe, where’s Elias? ;)

LE

LE
Climbing trees is a hard life. Walked to Bobboi for refreshment. And boy, Uncle is TALL!

LE
B-day party @ our community clubhouse for E’s best neighborhood friend, Archer.

LE

LE

LE

LE
Party continued @ their place… These light saber noodles were a big hit!

LE
As was this recyclable… No need for toys, right? Did you know a cardboard box can bring loads of amusement? :D

LE
Tiring out auntie…

LE
Got to go to a cool leather stamping workshop.

LE

LE

LE
THIS for our backyard!

LE

LE
Reminded us of the one we saw in Atlanta, ‘cept now he can play. Kinda.

LE
These were serious balloon artists. They can make just about anything you request.

LE
No, we did NOT get a memo to wear a B/W checkered shirt. :) What are the chances?

LE

LE
Lloyd Garmadon Ninjago balloon + yogurt pretty much made his afternoon.

LE
And just like that, this happened… *sniffle*

LE

LE

LE
Good job on the performances – song + poetry. We know they practiced all year!

LE
XieXie Mao Laoshi & Lee Laoshi, along with Principal H, for such a memorable year of learning and growing!

LE
His boy gang.

LE

LE

LE
Kindergarten, class of 2019! Summer break, we’re lookin’ at ya.

Spring/Summer Snow

Heading to Mammoth over Memorial weekend was definitely NOT a mistake.

LE
Several FEET of snow dumped down. We are standing at the top of this actually very tall sign! :) Last December, we had to look up to see the words Mammoth Mountain.

LE

LE

LE
Fresh, virgin powder. There is great delight in etching those first lines. :)

LE

LE

LE

LE
He’s starting to take off without us. And this is the trip where he got the “ah-ha” moment with turns. Towards the end of the few days, we had to chase him down a few times. :P

LE
Whatcha got in that cup holder there?

LE

LE

LE
We stayed on the main strip of Mammoth this time since there isn’t ski in/out spring skiing. It was easy access to all the shops and restaurants.

LE
He loved this store with a bunch of games and random fun stuff.

LE

LE
There was a little creek and forest behind our lodge.

LE
Local coffee shop on our last day before driving back.

LE

LE
Mmmmm, matcha say?

LE
They also do their own coffee roasting.

LE
On the way back home, we visited Hot Creek Geological Site, known as the “Yellowstone of CA”.

LE
It contains dozens of boiling hot springs that bubble up within the walls of a river gorge.

LE

LE
We did the short hike that runs along the creek.

LE

LE

LE

LE
The wind rustling through this field of flowers somehow spoke to us. :D It’s the little things!

LE
Close up of the flora.

LE
Those snow-capped Sierra mountain peaks in the background. Yes, they are real. :)

LE

LE
When there are rocks, this boy will want to climb, haha.
